Description

SEE BELOW FOR DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS: FACEBOOK PAGE:http://tinyurl.com/38ydseu One year ago today I, Sam Cornwell embarked on an incredible mission which committed myself to uploading a daily video diary to the internet once a day for an entire year. This is the final day of that year and oh boy it's been emotional. In previous years what I had done was upload just a small photo daily to keep myself occupied, kind of like a hobby however, upon upgrading my iPhone 3G to an iPhone 3Gs I discovered that I could upload videos directly to Youtube from the phone without the aid of a computer. "Why not give it a go?" I thought. Day 1 of these vlogs was a very humble beginning. As were the next 10 or so, but soon I yearned for more time to speak and record my thoughts and I discovered an iPhone application called ReelDirector. This enabled me to splice, cut, edit, render several video clips together at once. This arguably is where the real daily vlog as you see it now began, on day 11. Of course as the days, weeks and months went by I grew more confident holding the camera out stretched in front of myself and my editing got smoother making the videos easier to watch. The real test was yet to come though. On day 184 of 365, just over six months into recording a daily video my girlfriend Beverley Mason, our friend Gemma Tremlett and two other Irish friends Chris and Carla embarked on a Europe Tour that would see us travelling by train to different countries from Spain through to Poland for 24 days. Managing this daily and uploading 10 minute videos at regular times was probably my greatest achievement of the year. It is also the moment when I felt the vlog first started to 'break out'. The other memorably holiday was of course day 244 when Beverley and I set off on a surprise and unplanned trip to Las Vegas. The colourful lights, gambling, driving, sights, skyjumping, delicious food, incredible room and rollercoasters made it one to watch. More recently, the beast that has become known as Fiverr has started appearing more and more regularly. I'm interested to see where this will lead in the future as I personally believe it has some great potential. We shall see. The year had many highlights and many low moments but above all it's been a classic. I've always regretted not recording some of my younger years because I have done so much with my life already. As Lloyd Miller says in this video the vlog has helped bring people together. I've made friends across the world as well as here in Newport and don't regret a thing. I'm not going to sell out and do a highlight reel of the year - If you want to do that you're welcome, but instead as a gift to you guys and memory for us I've included some uncut drunken testimonials to serve as a memory for 2010, the year of Sam Cornwell's Daily Vlog. I'm not going to mention all my subscribers here, BUT that's only because I am terrified of missing one of you guys out. I will certainly reply to each one of you individually though. So thanks to Gemma Tremlett. You gave me someone to mock for the entire year. You've been helpful with all our projects and we could always rely on you. Even if you didn't make it here for day 365. Lloyd Miller for being a REAL LIFE ANGEL of Newport that manages to pop up everywhere. Remember the transporter bridge? Or the man having a fit outside Mcdonalds? Tom Chilton you headcase. Our housemate and friend that brought us the der derr de dah song on the guitar. Anthony David Vaughan, the technical photography guy that's always full of energy and always up for the challenge. Ben James Aldous for making me feel thin, stealing our sofa and accompanying me many times to poker tournaments. Matt Damsell for generally being eye candy for the ladies. You've got fans on here man! Also for being the greatest guitarist Newport has ever seen! Susan Langford, for all the meals, fine times, chats and having someone there who can understand. Chris & Carla for providing all the Irish entertainment, even though somewhere over the Summer you seemed to lose your way, we're still holding on for when you're back. My DAD Tim Cornwell for helping me out no idea how many number of times and letting me stay in his big old crooked house! Not forgetting all the other guest appearances from friends and family. Dave Daborn, Katie Parry, Stuart Weston, Jean-Paul, Mowgli, Djamilla Millns, Scott Seymour, Charlie Brown, Claire Bennet, Harry Cornwell and Bev's parents! And finally, but by no means least my beautiful girlfriend Beverley who has been there from the start in the snow right up until the end. I couldn't have done this without her support and patience. There have been so many sleepless nights due to the vlog and through it all she's put up with it. I think Bev asked me to get the camera out of her face just once, HA! Now, I sleep. It's day 365 of 365 and I am well and truly knackered.
